A Little Bit About Me

I'm Ginny Ritenour and I'm the big cheese around this place. Head honcho. Wife to Mr. Rit. Mommy to 7 year old, sweet, goofy Rit Jr.

Dinnertime is very important to our family. We are three people who spend our days entirely apart, with work, school, activities and very different interests. Our family dinner is a time to reconnect at the end of the day, share our stories, laugh with one another, dream together, nourish our bodies and our souls.

Before my meal planning days, part of the evening would be spent wandering around the grocery store, figuring out what we could eat for the next couple of days; what would be quick and easy and get me out of this darn store? I'd end up with something expensive, overly processed and packaged, and altogether unappetizing.

In an effort to simplify the process so we could actually enjoy the meal, I began meal planning in fits and starts over the last several years. About two years ago, I decided to get serious about it, incorporating couponing, healthy meals, fresh ingredients, and only twice-a-month grocery shopping. The changes in our stress level, health, and fellowship have been dramatic. We have more time to participate in the preparation of the food, linger (when time allows) over a fresh, home-cooked meal, complete homework, and sometimes even stick around for family game time.

Every family's time and budget constraints are different, but I strongly believe in the power of taking time to plan ahead in order to reap the rewards ten-fold.

Join me and soon you'll find your Meal Plan Mojo, too!
